BIO

Rob Phillips is a contemporary new media artist who calls the vibrant city of Dallas home. Known for his innovative projects that feature 3-dimensional artwork, video, and photography, Rob's artistic journey began after he relocated to Texas in 2004. Originally from New York City, he spent most of his career as a software developer for Fortune 500 companies before the events of 9/11 prompted him to seek solace and a new path forward from the devastation he experienced.

During this time, Rob discovered his passion for photography and turned to it as a means of creative expression. His passion eventually led him to pursue a formal education in studio and commercial art, where he earned a BFA degree and continued his growth as an artist through the pursuit of an MFA degree.

Rob's work is inspired by his introspective exploration of the impact of sociopolitical issues on cultural identity and agency, and social interaction between American sub-cultures. He uses his art to comment on the political influence on the state of contemporary American society. Rob is committed to exploring new mediums and forms to create thought-provoking and visually stunning artwork that communicates compellingly and effectively.

As an artist, Rob is passionate about continuing his exploration of sociopolitical commentary and how it has influenced and affected who he is. His artwork is a reflection of his personal journey, as well as his desire to engage with his audience and spark meaningful conversations about the world we live in.
